This painting began by establishing a gathering point. I used a bouquet of brushstrokes, different marks, light and texture to create invisible and visible lines to create a tension or web that held the painting together. Whilst painting, the paint gathered playfully in moments where it collided and pulled against one another. Entangled brushstrokes created more chaotic, delicate moments where the paint fell loosely apart like a disheveled flower's petals. I scraped away paint to reveal raw canvas underneath which pushed the impasto marks forward. These marks all play rhythmically with one another. Floral hues, watery darkness and other textures of nature are what I've used as a visual language to express emotion. I believe my own sensuality and spirituality have translated into the painting through touch and action. My goal was to make a painting that has a sensuousness and a strong vibration that stands strong on its own.
